Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, called Trump's remarks "historic, important, courageous", while praising the American leader for strongly condemning Iran, Islamic State, Hezbollah and Hamas "in the same sentence - for they are all part of the scourge of Islamist terror".

President Donald Trump's first foreign trip kicked off in Saudi Arabia this weekend.

"I want to tell you also how much we appreciate the reassertion of American leadership in the Middle East", Netanyahu said.

Is it just me, or is it unnerving that the commander of the world's largest nuclear arsenal is unable to recognise what subcontinent he's on? The prime minister, who repeatedly butted heads with President Barack Obama, leapt to his feet when the president declared Tuesday that his administration “will always stand with Israel.”.

"And that will help reconciliation between Israel and the Palestinians", Netanyahu said.

Iran condemned a suicide attack at a pop concert in Manchester that killed 22 people, but in an apparent swipe at Western security cooperation with Gulf Arab states said "artificial alliances" would not eliminate such threats.

At the end of the trip, Ross said, Saudi security guards gifted him and others with two bushels of dates. Trump arrived Monday for a slew of meetings, including with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He pointedly sidestepped any mention of the thorny issues that have stymied all previous attempts at a peace deal, including the status of Jerusalem, Israeli settlement construction and the Palestinians demand for a sovereign nation.

President Donald Trump gives his speech to the Muslim world in Saudi Arabia. The official briefed on Sunday's meeting said the package includes building permits for Palestinians in Area C that has largely been off limits to Palestinian development until now. He did not elaborate and it is not clear how big the plan is.

One point of contention in the talks: the fate of east Jerusalem, which Israel captured in the 1967 Mideast war.

Various reports, quoting anonymous officials, have said Trump did share classified information with Russian diplomats about the threat posed by the Islamic State group, and several have said that information came from Israeli intelligence. Palestinians say the barrier is a land grab because it slices off 10 percent of the West Bank.

State photographers were on hand to capture the moment, which quickly spawned memes from social media users who likened the U.S. President to everything from comic book characters to blockbuster movie villains.
