Portland Stabbing Suspect Yells 'Free Speech or Die' in Court Appearance

Jeremy Christian, said to be a white supremacist, has been charged with with two counts of aggravated murder and one count of attempted murder over the stabbings. Wheeler urged organizers to cancel a "Trump free speech rally" in Portland and other similar events next weekend, saying they were inappropriate and could be unsafe. Christian, 35, yelled as he walked into his arraignment hearing, local NBC outlet KGW reported.

Trump said in his speech in Saudi Arabia that, "Young Muslim boys and girls should be able to grow up free from fear, safe from violence, and innocent of hatred".

He says he hopes their actions inspire "changes in the political dialogue in this country" and that people put aside their hate and honor the victims.

At the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, two men were stabbed to death in Portland, Oregon after confronting a man who was yelling anti-... "You hear me? Die".

"I told him, 'You ain't gonna heal punk, '" Christian said, according to the affidavit.

"I'm renewing my call for the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security to use their full powers to combat these attacks and their root causes", he said.

Police say Micah David-Cole Fletcher, 21, of Portland was also stabbed and is in serious condition at a Portland hospital. Best, an Army veteran and city employee, died on the train.

Trump has condemned the stabbing, writing Monday on Twitter: "The violent attacks in Portland on Friday are unacceptable".

Police said Christian responded by stabbing each man in the neck. A prosecutor's affidavit reportedly said that Christian explained he robbed a convenience store, because it "doesn't sell any winning lottery tickets".

One of the victims of the hate speech is sending her thanks to those who came to her defense, according to KPTV. "Our prayers are with them". One man intervened and tried to verbally de-escalate the situation, the affidavit said.

Nicholas Zukin, the man who started the "Tri Met Heroes" GoFundMe page said he just wanted to help.
