Cedar Grove sophomore pitcher Mia Faieta has brought a new meaning to pitching a ideal game.

"This was fun", the sophomore told News 12's Sean Reilly after the game that left the reporter's scorebook looking like a rare work of art.

Nicole Webb of Manchester Township has the record for most strikeouts in a seven-inning game as she had 22 in 2003 due to a wild pitch after a strikeout. "I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to jinx it. Then I realized after a while that maybe it could happen".

A New Jersey high school softball pitcher has pitched a true ideal game. "She really held it together". In an 11-0 victory in five innings, Faieta did not allow a ball in play.

Prepare the fire emoji, because Mia Faieta's performance on Saturday was more than worthy. For the second time in nine days, Faieta struck out every batter she faced, setting down all 21 batters in a 4-0 win over North Warren in a North 1, Group 1 state semifinal game Thursday. "I just wanted to bear down".

She will try to do it again in the final this Tuesday against top-seeded Verona.
