Leading 1-0 from the first leg of the semifinal in Spain, United thought it had killed off the tie when Marouane Fellaini headed it in front after 17 minutes.

Man United were made to sweat in the final stages of the game, however, when Facundo Roncaglia levelled with just five minutes left to cancel out Marouane Fellaini's opener.

― Reuters picMANCHESTER, May 12 ― Jose Mourinho admitted Manchester United defender Eric Bailly had been naive to allow himself to be baited into the red card against Celta Vigo that rules him out of the Europa League final.

On Thursday evening, Manchester United creeped into the Europa League final after a brutal Old Trafford display vs Celta Vigo.

Guidetti was handed a glorious opportunity to not only be a hero to Celta Vigo's fans, but also plant his blue flag in Old Trafford to claim it as blue.

Holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg, United opted for a cautious approach that saw Celta dominate possession for long periods.

Jose Mourinho's tongue was planted firmly in cheek as he thanked referee Michael Oliver for sending off Ander Herrera in Manchester United's FA Cup defeat to Chelsea this season.

The Belgium midfielder sneaked in at the far post to powerfully head in Rashford's clipped right-wing cross.

"We played really well and reduced them to one chance, from which they scored".

But Mourinho said it would be wrong purely to view the final as a means to an end, particularly as United have never previously won the competition.

Tempers flared shortly afterwards when United's Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly lashed out at John Guidetti, who fell to the ground, before Argentina worldwide Roncaglia got involved. Roncaglia's not new in these kind of situations and probably Eric was a bit naive.

"I said that [it was their biggest game ever] but obviously Manchester United had other semi-finals, Champions League finals".

"But in the end, especially after the red card for Nick Viergever, we had to survive". I was calm and relaxed on the bench and I can't remember one chance they had.

"We lose a very important player for the final and we don't have many".
