Tilmon, a 6-foot-10 center from East St. Louis High School (Illinois), originally signed with Illinois under head coach John Groce.

For one, Tilmon lives nearby, as he hails from East Saint Louis, Ill., which has always been a springboard city for Missouri recruits.

Six weeks later, after DePaul, Kansas and St. Louis University were mentioned as possible options for Tilmon, he signed with Mizzou, now coached by a fellow East St. Louis native. "A bruiser. With the style of play Coach Martin likes to play and his track record in that scheme, Jeremiah is going to give them an immediate inside presence".

Tilmon signed a financial aid agreement with Mizzou joining current signees Blake Harris, Michael Porter Jr., C.J. Roberts and Kassius Robertson. We feel that he has the ability to become a game-changing presence on both ends of the floor. He had been rumored to be a Missouri lean and made things official on Monday.

Louis (Ill.) star had signed with IL but backed out after a coaching change.

Tilmon played one season at The La Lumiere School, a preparatory academy in La Porte, Indiana, before returning home to play for the Flyers during his senior season.

The recruitment of Jeremiah Tilmon has come to an end. That might not be a problem under Cuonzo Martin, but the reason for his drop in the rankings over the years was that he didn't do the necessary work to advance his skills and was passed up by other players. "He dominated. But just getting accustomed to the SEC and the Division I college level, he'll be a force to be reckoned with".

Tilmon chooses Mizzou after decommitting from IL. An NCAA Tournament bid is certainly well within reach for Missouri, and signing Tilmon was another telling sign the Tigers mean business.

"It's truly exciting to keep a young man like Jeremiah at home with Mizzou basketball", Martin said in a statement.

Jontay Porter, who de-committed from Washington in March and is expected to wind up at Mizzou, told USA Today he won't announce a decision until after the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League in July.
