On MSNBC following his speech on the House floor, Green said Trump "has committed obstruction of justice", and cited the firing of Comey as his reason for calling for the president's impeachment. Mr. Speaker this offence has occurred before our very eyes, it is perspicuous, it is easy to understand.

The existence of the memo, which was reportedly written by Mr Comey himself, suggests that Mr Trump had attempted to influence investigations into his associates and Russian Federation.

"I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go", Trump allegedly told Comey, according to The New York Times. "He is a good guy".

Troubled by the President's request, Comey made a paper trail of the interaction.

Donald Trump isn't going to be impeached as long as Republicans control both chambers of Congress, but the impeachment talk is an albatross around Trump's neck that ensures that his agenda is dead in the water.

The disclosure is the latest seemingly damning report regarding Trump's relations with an ongoing probe into his presidential campaign's ties to Russian Federation. And he is a member of the Democratic minority, which has little power to move ahead on investigations or to begin proceedings to remove the president from office.

Brad Blakeman pushed back this morning that Democrats have been called for impeachment since the inauguration and are like "the boy who cried wolf" at this point.

But after news of the Comey account dropped on Tuesday, more lawmakers are posturing for a constitutional showdown, including at least one Republican.

"What has anxious me out here, is that in such a very serious time with such a very serious position, immediately the left jumps on and starts screaming impeachment".

But not all Democrats are ready to pull the trigger. I believe that this is where your patriotism is shown, where you demonstrate to the American people where you really stand. "We need to get to the facts".

"Impeachment does not mean that the President will be found guilty", he said.

Green adds: 'If the president is not above the law he should be charged by way of impeachment by the US House of Representatives. Our country is in a state of crisis. "If there was any obstruction of justice, that would obviously rise to that level".

Only two presidents in USA history have been impeached.

The head of the US House oversight committee, Jason Chaffetz, asked the Federal Bureau of Investigation to hand over all documents about meetings and communications between Mr Comey and President Trump.
