Star Wars started out with Memorial Day, and it also allows the studio to double-up on profiting from the film.

Episode IX release date is slated for May 24, 2019, the Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm announced today. Fans will also have to wait an entire year between the Han Solo film, which will open on May 25, 2018, and Episode IX.

Yes, three of the biggest and most anticipated movies in Disney's future line-up finally received their release dates, but there is even more.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will be released into theaters nationwide on Friday, December 15th.

"We have four or five weeks immersed in the film Han Solo and we are about to read the script of Colin Trevorrow's Episode IX, so we have a lot of work at the moment".

The May 24 release date marked a shift in strategy for Disney, whose two previous new entries in the sci-fi adventure have all been set for release in mid-December, during the winter holidays.

Are you most excited for Indy V or Star Wars IX? One that is peppered with fun information about the upcoming direction of Star Wars.

There's still eight months until Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out, but Disney is looking ahead. Both Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg are slated to return, though it's worth noting that Ford will be almost 78 years old by then. The as-yet-untitled movie is the final film in the third Star Wars trilogy. Others believe it's because they want to counter the outrage felt by pushing back the newest Indiana Jones movie to make way for the new live action version of The Lion King.

Other confirmed release dates include the fifth Indiana Jones movie which has been delayed by a year to July 10 2020. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
