Blount likes the Eagles' chances this season

Burleson opined that if the running back has 10 to 12 touchdowns for the Eagles in the 2017 National Football League season, then New England may have committed a mistake. The newest hulking Eagle showed up for his introductory press conference testing the seams on the sleeves of his new long-sleeve shirt.

So just how much does he weigh?

"I'm the weight I need to be at", he said. Attempts and conversions aside, a difference of almost 30 is significant and adds another element defenses have to respect on third and short situations.

At the same time, how telling is it that with no interest in Blount on the open market, that a week after the Patriots place a little used tender on him that the Eagles then offered him a deal? In fact, the only players heavier than him on the roster are linemen and tight ends.

The Eagles would appear to have complementary parts with Blount as the obvious running-down, short-yardage and goal line option, Sproles the change-of-pace, pass-catching, third-down blocking option, and Smallwood and Pumphrey as a mixture of both depending upon the circumstance. They have a lot of really special players on their team that make a lot of really good plays. "I just want to fit in somewhere". Before I do all that, I have to go out here and learn the offense, learn the playbook, learn what I'm going to be good at, what I'm going to be required and recommended to do. "I'm gonna be at games watching them, for sure". The Patriots wanted Blount back, too, but Blount wanted more money.

"To play a full season, play every game, every carry that they gave me, I feel great, I feel incredible", Blount said, via Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer. I split time with Stevan Ridley. I split with Cadillac Williams [in Tampa Bay]. You could see after they won the Super Bowl, he goes up to Brady, he was high-fiving him. If the Eagles are able to stay in more games, Blount could push 200, but it's highly unlikely he has another 1,161-yard, 18-touchdown season. While the Eagles seem to fit more into the latter, the 2017 season will have plenty of proven names on the roster. It happened just one time in the 15 years of being led by either Andy Reid or Doug Pederson; in Reid's first season as head coach, with a rookie Donovan McNabb, Duce Staley carried the ball 325 times. "I wouldn't necessarily put a number on (how many carries he needs), but after a few, you can kind of tell".

When asked about the history of Philly sports, Blount said he wants to be remembered as one of the greats. No, no. And what we've seen from skill position players that leave New England, they never enjoy the success with their other team that they've enjoyed in New England. The Patriots signed him that week, and with his apparent bad attitude towards Coach Mike Tomlin, Pats fans knew that Blount in New England worked.
