The Brazilian headed in the only goal of the game just before half-time to clinch all three points at the Hawthorns and extend the Reds' unbeaten run to seven matches.

"But today it was really good and I am happy about this".

'Somebody asked which scoreline would have kept me a little calmer in the last few minutes, and I said: "Only 4-0 after 86 minutes".

Tony Pulis made each of his three allotted substitutions with more of a quarter of the game remaining, but he succeeded in disrupting Liverpool's rhythm at a time when they were threatening to put the result in no doubt.

"You can always do better but we learned already in the game".

The Reds' all-round defensive effort, aided by Mignolet's shot-stopping prowess, sealed an unlikely clean sheet in the West Midlands, with a series of late set-pieces proving a major threat.

Jurgen Klopp reserved considerable praise for Liverpool striker Divock Origi after his performance in Sunday's 1-0 win over West Brom.

On a late chance for Alberto Moreno, which saw him miss an open goal, the German coach added: "Everybody thinks he could have played Daniel Sturridge, but I'm not sure he knew, because he may have been offside".

He said: "I think we have had very good performances - Arsenal here, Tottenham here, when we played really well".

He told Liverpoolfc.com: "Not only the three points but a clean sheet also, we're very pleased with that".

"We knew what to do but in the first half we looked a little bit static".

Pulis took Stoke to the FA Cup final, losing 1-0 to Manchester City in 2011, and into the Europa League but has never finished in the top half of the Premier League.

"I actually thought we'd won here previous year, but it was a draw", Klopp said, when asked about how he felt about finally winning against a Pulis side.

Though Moreno's miss did not prove costly, he and his teammates were indebted to their own goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet, who denied Matt Philips right at the death with a fine save from point blank range.

"Maybe there was another option that I didn't see, I'd have to watch it again, but it's completely normal in a situation like this, you think you have to do this [shoot]".

"It's really three very important points at a hard place and that's improved our base for the rest of the season, so I'm happy about this".
