Starting with No. 2 LSU, which swept the Southeastern Conference regular-season and championship meet titles this season, the league was well-represented in Friday's national semifinals. "But you just have to push it aside and say 'I'm just gonna do this for my team and for myself, '" and it was a crucial spot trying to bring the team back from that".

Sophomore Kari Lee, who hurt her right ankle prior to the NCAA Regional meet, could be limited again to just bars. Her 40 wins this season are third all-time, and her 11 wins in the all-around are tied for first with Ashley Postell, who also won the all-around 11 times in 2008. "We are really looking forward to tomorrow and having a chance to fight for a National Championship". She and freshman Angel Zhong were All-MRGC Vault First-Team selections.

Kocian stepped up for her routine and was saluting the judges when she saw senior Hallie Mossett's score: a 9.2 after the senior fell on one of her flight series.

"Sometimes I guess I come across amusing, but I don't really try to be amusing", Kocian said.

The Rio Olympian scored a 9.8625 on beam in her first NCAA championship as the Bruins finished the rotation with another 49.3625 and the overall lead halfway through the meet.

"Hallie is not healthy - her hip is awful", Kondos Field said. We sort of settled in on vault and just got better as the day went on.

Season highlights include contending with then-ranked No. 17 Iowa on February 24 and posting a season-high 196.425, the highest score since 2005. In gymnastics, a team has no direct influence on the other teams in the meet.

Even with a 49.2375 team score on vault, it was more than enough for UCLA's second straight berth in the Super Six.

Undefeated Oklahoma, going for its third national title in four years, won the session with a score of 197.725, while No. 6 UCLA (197.500) and No. 4 Utah (197.050) followed.

Utah also struggled on their opening events before regrouping in the final rotations.

Both Rowe and Skinner could also compete to be NCAA individual event champions.

But after LSU opened with a bye, the Tigers went to floor exercise and Kelley took her usual spot in the lineup - second-to-last.

LSU advances to the Super-Six for the second season in a row where they will compete with Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, UCLA and Utah.
