It convicted him of a single charge: unlawful possession of gun. He was immediately sentenced to an additional four to five years in prison on the weapons conviction and led from the courtroom with tears streaking down his face.

Baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew received a new heart and kidney from the late National Football League player Konrad Reuland in what is believed to be the first such transplant involving pro athletes, it was revealed Friday. A defense attorney hugged him.

"We made justice happen", Sullivan added.

"I wouldn't second-guess anything", he said.

Hernandez, 27, is now serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole after being found guilty of the 2013 shooting of Odin Lloyd, who had been dating the sister of Hernandez' fiancee Shayanna Jenkins at the time of murder.

One such incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on the night of the killings, prosecutors said, when de Abreu bumped into Hernandez inside Cure Lounge, a Theater District nightclub, and spilled a drink on him.

But after spending time trying to console Furtado and Safiro's families and friends, Conley could not hide his anger over the tactic he said was employed by Hernandez's marquee counsel, Jose Baez, who "sullied the reputations of two hard-working immigrants ... portraying them as gangbangers and drug dealers".

Baez, who gained fame when he won an acquittal for Casey Anthony in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, said Bradley's testimony was "riddled with lies", but prosecutors stuck with him as their star witness because they wanted to convict an National Football League player.

Hernandez already is serving life in prison in the death of a man who was dating his fiancee's sister. He calls Hernandez "a handsome young man".

"There is a lot of sorrow and grief with the families right now". Did they see him as some kind of tortured celebrity?

Jurors offered little comment after the verdict. "That's ridiculous", Conley said. We deliberated for six days. Jury foreperson Lindsey Stringer simply told reporters asking for a comment that they "based our decision on the evidence presented and the law".

Hernandez, 27, played with the Patriots from 2010-12. Hernandez was cut by the Patriots shortly after being arrested for Lloyd's killing.

A former New England Patriots rising star has been acquitted on two 2012 murder charges.
