Brooklyn Nets Benching Six Players vs Chicago Bulls

Rajon Rondo was back in the Chicago starting lineup after missing the past three games with a sprained right wrist.

The Miami Heat were playoff virgins until 1992 when they got molly whopped by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in the first round. "I can definitely understand that". The Heat beat the Washington Wizards 110-102 on Wednesday night, but finished No. 9 in the Eastern Conference after Chicago and in won to grab the last two remaining postseason spots.

Chicago would already have its spot secured if it could consistently win against teams below it in the standings, but losses to the New York Knicks and the Nets - 107-106 in Brooklyn on Saturday - in the last eight days make the finale more important.

"We have to look at it from the Brooklyn Nets franchise and what is best for us, and that's how we're looking into it in a vacuum", Atkinson explained as he and general manager Sean Marks quickly turned their attention to what should be a fascinating offseason. "That's my responsibility as coach". The pervious 16 teams with such a streak all reached the postseason. The Nets, with nothing to play for and no initiative to tank with Boston owning its draft slot, sat six players including leading scorers Brook Lopez and Jeremy Lin.

"It's frustrating for me".

This decision will leave a lot of people disappointed.

"I just said to a couple of guys, this was my favorite team that I've been a part of". They have an National Basketball Association jersey on and they're National Basketball Association players.

"I know they addressed it at the owners meetings", Hoiberg said, in reference to the NBA Board of Governors meeting last week. The Bulls, the No. 8 seed, will open the playoffs Sunday night against No. 1 seed Boston Celtics. The Bulls would extend their lead to 30 points, as the Nets trailed 99-69 with under five minutes left in the game. There are scenarios where the Heat, Bulls and Pacers all could be No. 7 or No. 8.

"We were proud of each other in that locker room", Reed said. We always enjoyed getting better.

Archie Goodwin put up 20 points and K.J. McDaniels added 15 for Brooklyn, which committed 18 turnovers and was outscored 37-17 during the final 12 minutes.

"I don't know if I've ever wanted something more for a team", an emotional Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "The Shot" by Ray Allen to save the Heat's season in Game 6 of the Finals will never be topped. But for one of these teams, winning will be a hell of a lot easier. We have to improve as it was clear tonight. "Our perimeter shooting is not where it needs to be".

Lopez and Lin both confirmed they were healthy and emphasized they were on the same page as the organization in sitting out.

But in the end, the Heat's incredible second half of the season wasn't enough to overcome their poor start.

"I can understand why the fans would be a little bit upset, but if you look across the league, every team that has an opportunity to do it is doing it".
