Newcastle fans have revealed their desire on Twitter to see Rafa Benitez drop midfielder Jack Colback ahead of Tuesday night's top-of-the-table clash against Brighton.

"It's important for the message we can send out", Benitez told BBC Newcastle.

The match is the first of two home games for the second-placed Seagulls against promotion rivals in quick succession, with Championship leaders Newcastle visiting the Amex Stadium on Tuesday.

Although Brighton had won all 18 of the previous matches in which they had scored first this season, Newcastle always looked capable of coming back.

"But at the same time, you see teams like Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday, they have so much more experience of being in the top six of the Championship, they have the advantage".

"But there are too many good teams to take your foot off the gas".

"There was a risk of being caught on the counter, but we created chances and we have to be pleased with the teamwork".

"Watching the replay of the penalty he was pushing our player, you can't give a penalty in this type of game".

But Diame equalised when Christian Atsu's shot looped up off his boot.

And Ayoze Perez claimed all three points with an 89th-minute goal.

Trailing 1-0 in the late stages of the game, Mohamed Diame found himself in the right place at the right time, with an inadvertent back-heel after Daryl Murphy's unintentional set-up that found the upper right-hand corner of the net. "Still I have the same feeling: April will be crucial".
