Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, will have to face a race of obstacles before he can take his new role at the White House.

"This is not a recommendation I make lightly, as the Chairman and I have worked together well for several years", he continued.

The investigation has also been dogged by questions about the conduct of Nunes, who was part of President Trump's transition team.

A day after the Comey hearing, Nunes met on the grounds of the White House with a source who told him that communications involving Trump or his associates had been inadvertently caught up in non-Russia-related surveillance.

This effort has been developing since shortly after the inauguration, said a senior administration official, who requested anonymity to discuss details about the office.

Devin Nunes, an ally of the president, has been leading an inquiry into the Trump administration's links with Russian officials during the 2016 election campaign.

Kushner, 36, was Trump's main intermediary with foreign governments during the 2016 election campaign and now plays that role in the White House.

Plans for the White House Office of American Innovation were first reported by The Washington Post.

US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner (left) has volunteered to be interviewed by Senate intelligence committee investigation into links between Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

"The timing of Mr. Kushner's testimony is still being determined, but will only come after the committee determines that it has received any documents or information necessary to ensure that the meeting is productive for all sides", the joint statement said.

It was not immediately clear when Kushner would appear before the Senate panel.

Kushner is the fourth Trump associate to offer to be interviewed by the congressional committees looking into the murky Russian Federation ties. Last week Manafort, Page, and Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone all volunteered to speak.

Trump took to Twitter to insist that "Trump Russia story is a hoax", urging lawmakers to instead focus on his losing rival for the presidency, Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state. Flynn allegedly hinted to the ambassador that the United States might lift the sanctions against Russian Federation under Trump.
