"This is the album we think our fans have been waiting for".

The group will hit the road later in the year for a 15-date United Kingdom arena tour, featuring support from none other than The Vengaboys.

"The song's got a good story", Steps' singer Lisa Scott-Lee told Popjustice.

The fivesome - consisting of Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Ian "H" Watkins, Lee Latchford-Evans and Lisa Scott-Lee - have pulled out all the stops to make their comeback extra special too, having collaborated on a new tune with none other than ABBA.

They started off as a novelty act, created to cash in on the 1990s line-dancing craze - but Steps' popularity has been surprisingly long-lived.

"It's a bridge to where we were and it moves on nicely to where we're taking the new music".

Tears On The Dancefloor will be the groups first studio album in five years.

Whilst the new album isn't out until 21 April, fans can get a taste of what's to come when new single Scared Of The Dark drops on Friday.

They split up on Boxing Day 2001 but reunited a decade later.

The group formed following an advert in The Stage entertainment magazine in 1997.

It has been five years since Steps delighted North East audiences at the Metro Radio Arena and we are so excited to welcome them back for one explosive evening on Monday 20th November 2017 with special guests Vengaboys.

Pop legends Steps are set to bring their comeback show to Aberdeen as part of a nationwide celebration of the group's 20th anniversary.

Their third single, One for Sorrow, started a run of 14 consecutive top 10 hits, including Stomp and Deeper Shade of Blue. A release date for the record has yet to be confirmed.
