Ryan: Must Change AHCA to Ease Impact on Older People

Pass the American Health Care Act, and we take back our health care system for the American people.

So, the next time you question the values and morality of the current Presidency of our country, and the leaders of the Republican Party, think about this: our United States of America ranking of 37th in health care coverage (World Health Organization, 2016) will fall far below that number if the bill passes the House and Senate. It was especially geared toward the non-rich, including those who earn less than the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), Medicaid recipients, and most of those who are low-wage earners, seniors and disabled.

The American Health Care Act, which is being debated in Congress, would mean higher prices, less coverage and billions in tax breaks for big drug and insurance companies.

"We have been reducing, controlling the cost of our Medicaid program on a per-beneficiary basis over the last decade", Holler said.

President Donald Trump made a remark a couple of weeks ago about "Who knew health care would be so complicated?"

The repeal bill's new approach to helping people afford insurance - even if less generous - would still require Republicans to vote for new entitlement spending in the form of tax credits paid even if people make too little to pay income taxes. One lawmaker said the changes include "work requirements and block grants".

Choice means little if you can not afford it.

Meadows and two other Republican opponents of the bill, Senators Mike Lee of Utah and Ted Cruz of Texas, met at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Saturday "negotiating with the president's team, trying to fix this bill", Cruz told CBS's Face the Nation.

Start with Medicaid. The Republicans' proposal gradually trims the amount sent to states that expanded the program under Obamacare and then provides a per-capita amount each year rather than a percentage of the costs.

Price acknowledged the tough negotiations, telling ABC's This Week: "It's a fine needle that needs to be thread, there's no doubt about it".

Conservatives and moderate House Republicans want to pull the bill in opposing directions, GOP senators are rebelling and Republican governors say the House bill gives them nearly no new flexibility and lacks sufficient resources to protect the vulnerable. That's according to the the state's healthcare agency, and IL hospital groups. "While this legislation is far from ideal and not the Obamacare replacement plan I had hoped to support, it is a substantial improvement from the mandates, burdens and failures of Obamacare". The association represents insurers that cover the majority of the 10 million Americans enrolled in the 2017 Obamacare plans.
