Ryan and Pelosi agree: No agreeing on health care

Some Republicans seemed emboldened by the White House's prodding. Obviously, Paul Ryan is still a little bit bitter about the fact that he has been talking non-stop about repealing and replacing Obamacare for seven years, and when he finally gets the opportunity to do it, he fails absolutely miserably in front of the entire country.

Success on the infrastructure front could recharge the administration's stalled momentum after it failed last week to make good on Trump's campaign promise to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. "I do not believe that's the case", he said.

"The only lines crossed during this debacle were breached by the Freedom Caucusers, who committed political libel against their Republican colleagues, stopped the legislative process dead in its tracks, and saved Obamacare". It would also have left in place regulations on the health insurance industry that are anathema to conservatives. The group is working with leadership and moderate Republicans to try to bring back the bill in a different form.

Congress must act to repeal the costly mandates driving up health insurance premiums.

A looming push to overhaul the USA tax code could include the repeal of Obamacare taxes left intact by last week's collapse of the Republican healthcare bill, the Senate's top Republican on tax policy said on Wednesday. "But they're with us on this one". Those differences were so sharp that they led Trump and Ryan to pull the bill just before the House was to vote on it. Yet in Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee and Iowa in the bitter aftermath of the GOP's epic failure, Republicans who blocked the legislation have won praise from constituents for stopping what many saw as a flawed plan, either in the legislation's substance or strategy.

President Trump is warning conservative lawmakers in the House that a fight is coming if they don't "get on the team, & fast". "There is a package in there that is a win-win".

Freedom Caucus member Rep. Justin Amash said Trump has surrendered to the Washington swamp he promised to fight.

"I think there was nothing that could be added to the bill that the Freedom Caucus would ever vote "yes" on", Poe said Monday on CNN.

Ryan said if House Republicans don't get a bill on the president's desk, Democrats will.

Pelosi on Thursday said Republicans had a "disastrous performance last week".

Ryan confirmed in Thursday's interview that repealing Obamacare is still very much the goal, despite the collapse of the AHCA last week in the House.

House Speaker Paul Ryan told "CBS This Morning" co-host Norah O'Donnell that he is against President Trump working with Democrats to pass a new h...

"That's such an easy one", Trump said.

"The carrots work a lot better than sticks in the world of politics", Sanford said. But keeping Freedom Caucus members happy without losing the votes of Republican moderates has proven tough. "People said the Freedom Caucus owes us an explanation".

The two top Democratic leaders in Congress - Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., an inveterate foe of the 2010 health care law, said, "Where we are on Obamacare, regretfully, at the moment is where the Democrats wanted us to be, which is with the status quo".

Last week, he publicly pointed to the other party for refusing to co-operate on the bill, a freakish comment since no Democrat was eager to replace Obamacare, nor did the White House conduct any real outreach across the aisle.
