Goals from Riyad Mahrez, Robert Huth and Jamie Vardy gave Leicester the all-import win.

Shakespeare doesn't expect a hangover from the Champions League celebrations.

The win added to domestic home victories over Liverpool and Hull City plus Tuesday's Champions League success over Sevilla, which set up a last-eight assignment with Atletico Madrid.

That ended the centre-back's 87-game run in the Premier League and allowed the little-used Yohan Benalouane a first league start in nearly two seasons with the Foxes.

Two minutes later, from a Leicester free-kick, Marc Albrighton clipped the ball into the box with the outside of his boot and the unmarked Huth nodded in the second.

Kaspar Schmeichel stood rooted to a spot as Manuel Lanzini's free kick earned West Ham its first goal in the 20th minute.

Schmeichel kept Leicester's lead intact in stoppage time with a reflex save to deny Carroll after Snodgrass's free-kick had been deflected into the striker's path.

David Sullivan has apologised to West Ham's fans following the 3-2 defeat at home to Leicester.

In the fifth minute Mahrez swung in a cross towards Vardy and Shinji Okazaki, but both forwards missed it - as did West Ham's defence - as the ball flew into the corner of the net.

He scored with a precise shot over the wall and into the top right hand side of the Leicester goal.

"We have to give West Ham credit".

"On the outside you try to keep and collected to keep the players focused".

West Ham have been on a woeful run of from in recent weeks, taking just two points from their last five Premier League outings, and now find themselves in 12th position, just nine points clear of the relegation zone.

"We were due an away win, so it's good to come back with the three points", the defender told Leicester's website.

"We made it a bit harder at the end and we were hanging on a bit. We can recharge the batteries now".
