"Serious question of constitutional morality and dignity arise on his remaining in the cabinet", the Governor said in a letter to the CM seeking his "justification on retaining the minister".

Meanwhile, yesterday passports of Prajapati and other accused have also been revoked so that they can not fly out of the country.

Since the rape case was filed against him, the opposition BJP and BSP have been continuously blaming the state's ruling party for the free run Mr Prajapati is getting - pushing the Chief Minister to cancel a programme where the two were expected to share dais.

He said, it has also come to his notice that CM himself has asked the minister to surrender but he has not done so till now and is absconding.

BJP has accused Akhilesh Yadav of hiding rape accused Prajapati at his residence and said the chief minister had become a patron of criminals in the state.

"A case has been lodged against him (but) the chief minister went to campaign for him while he (Gayatri) was present there. Now, the police can not trace him", Modi said.

Yesterday, immigration authorities across all airports were put on high alert after the reports suggesting that the rape accused UP Minister Gayatri Prajapati is planning to escape the country.

Chaudhary said to ensure that Pajapati is arrested soon, the Special Task Force of UP police has been roped in especially to prevent him from crossing the country's borders. Prime Minister Modi targeted the SP-Congress alliance during an election meeting in Jaunpur and said, "In this country, when we do something good, we chant the Gayatri Mantra". The FIR was filed recently following a directive of the Supreme Court.

A local court on Saturday issued non-bailable warrants against Prajapati and six others wanted in an alleged gangrape of a woman and attempt to molest her minor daughter.

To clarify his stand Prajapati dismissed all the allegations and called it a conspiracy of the BJP to win Assembly elections.

Prajapati also sought protection from arrest and recall of the apex court's earlier order.
