Congressman Chris Collins Statement on the American Health Care Act

Republican leaders underestimated the value people placed on their health plans, a reason why the House of Representatives couldn't come to a vote on the bill to fix and replace the Affordable Care Act, a Wood County supporter said Friday of the Obama Administration's signature program.

"There is a concern that if the repeal and replace of the affordable care act takes long enough, we will not get tax reform this year and the market is trying to recalibrate that", said Art Hogan, chief market strategist at Wunderlich Securities.

As House Republicans postponed the vote on the American Health Care Act, President Donald Trump met members of the American Trucking Association to discuss healthcare.

Ryan spoke alone from behind the podium, and he was not flanked by any of the Republican colleagues or White House officials who had furiously worked with him for weeks to try to get the health care legislation through the House.

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has estimated that about 14 million people will lose health coverage by 2018 under the Republican's health care plan. It would impact about more than 180,000 people in West Virginia.

The vast majority of Americans do not want ObamaCare repealed.

Many in the beltway are calling it a stunning defeat and a poor attempt to fulfill campaign promises, but a local representative Congressman Andy Harris still believes that representatives can come together to reach a resolution.

The political reality is that time is limited and the Republicans have to deliver a real solution on Obamacare replacement, and the GOP needs to get it right the first time.

"After seven disgusting years of ObamaCare (skyrocketing premiums & deductibles, bad healthcare), this is finally your chance for a great plan!" the president said. Many people actually felt this was one of the best parts of Obamacare, as mainstream things that helped every American was going to be covered in their health insurance. "This is the choice that we were waiting for". US President Donald Trump was rallying votes for his health care reform bill yesterday but made a pit stop in the afternoon to meet with truck drivers and trucking executives. "The difficulties this bill would create for millions of children were left unaddressed, " she said, citing the unraveling of Medicaid.

On health care itself, Trump has already said he will work on negotiating directly with drug companies.

Instead, as GOP leaders were forced to delay the vote Thursday, C-SPAN filled up the time playing footage of Obama signing the Affordable Care Act. Vote yes or move on with Obamacare.

"Their constituents deserve answers as to why they were voting yes on this bill which was disgusting then, it was terrible today", he said.

Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Maryville, said the House decision not to vote on the legislation "changes nothing about the urgency of rescuing 230,000 Tennesseans who buy insurance on Obamacare exchanges that our state insurance commissioner has said 'are very near collapse'".
