ACC Tournament: Five bold predictions for Brooklyn

Duke freshman Jayson Tatum, 19, will not be able to shoot freely like he did at home only a few weeks prior to this big game. And can you Believe I am going to say watch out for Florida State and the Miami Hurricanes.

Virginia Tech's Allen has come off the bench in 24 of the 29 games in which he has appeared, averaging 13.1 points, 3.3 assists and 2.3 rebounds while playing close to 29 minutes per contest. There's no doubt North Carolina will look to come out in this game guns-blazing, trying to run Duke out of the gym.

Remember when Duke owned this thing? "I love seeing a bunch of people in one room, having a great time", said Zogs employee Mandey Brown. They added tournament titles in 2010 and 2013, amassing eight overall.

In doing so, he gave the Tar Heels the lift they needed to win the nation's best conference by two games - an accomplishment they won't have much time to savor, especially since they could potentially face a rubber match with the Blue Devils in the ACC tournament semifinals.

Roy Williams finished second for ACC Coach of the Year to Georgia Tech's Josh Pastner.

Junior guard Joel Berry II led the way for North Carolina with 28 points and five made three-pointers.

Those performances, Williams said, "got us really going".

"There's unfinished business with us losing the championship past year and the way that we lost it", senior guard Nate Britt said. "We're in survive-and-advance mode right now". Both teams play on the first day of the tournament. "I remember growing up, the ACC was Duke's league".

Duke may have won the first matchup, but we've seen these two rivals split countless times in the regular season before. On Saturday, senior forward Isaiah Hicks - who missed the game at Duke on February 9 because of a hamstring injury - had 21 points and nine rebounds in his final home game. McCallie weathered an internal review that found no mistreatment of players on her part. And certainly not after the Blue Devils got the best of the Heels in early February, 86-78.

But it was another story from the inside. "I thought Amile played well", Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "There were no cliques", senior forward Oderah Chidom said.

We have two public teams and one team is dependent on offensive second chance points. There was a four-point loss at Vanderbilt on November 20, along with road losses at Florida State, NC State and the game at Notre Dame.

Then, after a quiet start to the second half, Berry asserted himself when his team needed it most - scoring seven straight points to extend a two-point lead coming out of the final TV timeout to an 86-80 cushion with 34.2 seconds remaining.

Duke is 1-14 all-time against Notre Dame and 0-6 versus the Fighting Irish on a neutral court. Those teams I have mentioned, They all have a legitimate clam to the ACC championship.
