Midnight Oil will be performing their hits including Beds are Burning, Blue Sky Mine and Power and the Passion.

"We've got such a s charted history of making music together and it just feels incredible, walking back into the room". "Your musical heart never stops beating even if you're doing something else at the time".

Details of the tour were posted this morning on the band's website.

Midnight Oil last performed in New Zealand at the Mountain Rock Festival in 1995.

In 2000, when playing at the official Sydney Olympics closing ceremony, the band performed while wearing clothes emblazoned with "sorry", a direct reference to the then Australian prime minister John Howard's refusal to apologise to indigenous Australians for their historic mistreatment.

The Australian leg of the tour will start in October in Alice Springs, NT, with shows announced in Darwin, Cairns, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Coffs Harbour, Hunter Valley and other locations in South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.

Midnight Oil has two dates on sale in the United States of America before their Australian tour later in the year. The latter contains over 14 hours of rarities and previously unreleased material spread over four CDs and eight DVDs. Both of these box sets will be housed in replica miniature water tanks like the one featured onstage at so many Oils' gigs.

Punk rockers The Living End will join Midnight Oil for their Wodonga show.

Tickets, $29.50 to $49.50, go on sale Friday, February 24; purchase yours at Altitude Tickets or by phone at 866-461-6556.
