Fox News' Shep Smith Blasts Trump For Lashing Out At Reporters

"You owe this to the American people", Smith said. But the panel is nearly exclusive anti-Trump, and the hatred and venom coming from his mouth.

His epic rant came after Trump held an unhinged press conference attacking the media, dismissing the Russian Federation controversy, and repeating more lies about his non-existent electoral landslide against Hillary Clinton.

A few minutes later on Fox News Channel, Bret Baier said that Trump's "mesmerizing" performance was an illustration of why people had supported him.

Trump opened Thursday's press conference by delivering a long diatribe against the "out of control" press. "I honestly do. The public gets it, you know". No, but the tone is such - I do get good ratings, you have to admit that - the tone is such hatred'. "But I'm not ranting and raving", the president said for dramatic emphasis.

Charging that "the fix is in", CNN's senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta accused President Donald Trump of "being cute" by only calling on "conservative" news outlets when taking questions.

"Ask Jeff Zucker how he got his job. OK?"

In a performance at the East Room of the White House that left many who cover Trump breathless, the president read a lengthy statement about his appointment of Alexander Acosta as secretary of labor and a number of other issues.

The conservative network of course hasn't exactly been an enemy of Trump, as he described Fox & Friends as "very honorable people" during Thursday's press conference. Trump blasted such stories as "fake news" and berated journalists.

"You're CNN, I mean it's story after story after story is bad", he said. You just take a look at that show. They're very - not because they're good, because they hit me also when I do something wrong. "You call us fake news and put us down like children for asking questions on behalf of the American people".

Mr Trump, a reality television star and real estate mogul who was elected as an outsider intent on change, opened a hastily arranged news conference to bash coverage by the news media.

"The fact that the president called on me and not on any of the traditional media outlets is really what is bothering all of them", Brody said.

Acosta, in response, told Trump that he nor CNN hates him and proceeded to ask his questions.
