Britney Spears has offered 'weekend advice' following Katy Perry's Grammys shade

Last night at the Grammy Awards ceremony, the great American musical mass, Katy Perry was on the microphone of journalist Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet.

Katy joins fellow United States star Bruno Mars on the performing line-up, which also includes a host of homegrown British talent.

Katy Perry is looking to start some conversation!

She treated viewers to a performance of her new single penned by Sia and produced by radio staple Max Martin. Pressed further on how the break went, she said "Fantastic".

Spears infamously shaved her head and attacked a paparazzo's auto with an umbrella in 2007 amid a custody battle for her two sons with then-estranged husband Kevin Federline.

More than three years after the release of the chart-topping Prism, the I Kissed A Girl hitmaker is expected to release her fourth studio album later in 2017.

While a third angrily wrote: 'I just lost all my respect for Katy Perry, well the litle respect I did have for her'.

Perry spent most of the past year on the road supporting Hillary Clinton's presidential race. "I've done all of them", said Katy.

Fans accused the Firework singer of "throwing shade" at Britney for her public breakdown, after doing a rede carpet interview in which she appeared to mock the incident.

This was an obvious reference to Britney and the time in 2007 when, as the culmination of an ongoing mental breakdown, the singer smashed a auto with an umbrella after shaving her own head.

In reply, the Britney Army to create the hashtag #KatyPerryIsOverParty, which quickly trended on Twitter.

Another ranted: "I don't care who you are, you never make fun of mental health and Britney Spears' breakdown".

While Spears is heard giggling in the video clip as she gives advice such as "a book in Malibu is all you need", the songstress posted a verse from the Bible as well, which many interpreted as a comment about Katy.

"I'm a huge fan of hers".
