The Clinton campaign is on the defensive today, following an alleged email exchange between senior campaign officials that Republicans are condemning as "breathtaking anti-Catholic bigotry".

An email exchange between Center for American Progress fellow John Halpin and Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri had some negative things to say about Catholicism and evangelical Christians.

[Roman Catholicism] is the most socially acceptable politically conservative religion.

Palmieri told reporters traveling with Clinton on Wednesday that she didn't recognize the hacked email although she wouldn't say explicitly whether she believed it had been forged.

Clinton' campaign chairman, John Pedesta, also suggested Russian intelligence agencies are behind the hacks of his emails.

Richardson had a falling out with the Clintons after he supported Barack Obama in the 2008 election.

The emails from Podesta's gmail account reveal the ego-stroking and horse-trading involved in courting top supporters.

Bill Clinton's history has been drawn back into the spotlight in recent days after Republican presidential Donald Trump featured the former president's accusers at a press conference ahead of the second presidential debate on Sunday. Bernie Sanders. The DNC is supposed to stay neutral in the primary. That was the day The Associated Press first reported that Clinton had been running a private server inside her home in NY.

The thousands of emails give an unprecedented view inside the Clinton campaign's operations, which can often be cut-throat.

"Let Hillary Clinton stand up here for an hour and talk the way I talk and let's see how long she lasts, folks", Trump said.

Trump seized on the hacked emails at a rally Tuesday night in Florida, alleging the documents show that "Clinton is the vessel (of) a corrupt global establishment that's raiding our country and surrounding the sovereignty of our nation".

Obviously, the chummy emails between Politico and those in the inner sanctum of the Hillary Clinton campaign are in jest, but it speaks to a very close relationship between the news organization and the Democratic Party's candidate.

"I mean what is really the big deal to say I made a mistake with not having two emails and I'm sorry", Tangen asked in a subsequent email on the September 4 chain. "But he was not aware of her personal email server or that she was using it exclusively for all her business".

Podesta says Russian Federation may be trying to influence the outcome of the USA presidential election to favor Trump, who has said he admires President Vladimir Putin.
