The main impacts to Tampa will be heavy rain and flood potential with heavy rain bands setting up well ahead of the center of the storm.

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Hermine has formed from a system swirling in the Gulf of Mexico.

The tropical storm warning covers an area from Anclote River to the Walton County-Bay County line. You can look at our parking lot and see what we've got for the day.

Eues said the parish agencies were well prepared in the event the storm did take aim at Louisiana.

Schools in Clay County will be open Thursday, but after-school activities have been canceled because of the approaching threat from Tropical Depression 9, officials announced Wednesday.

It is then forecast to cross Florida before continuing northeast along the coasts of Georgia and the Carolinas.

"The slower this storm moves, the less of an impact it will have on us".

In addition, a Hurricane Watch has been issued for the same location as there will be a possibility that it could be a minimum category 1 hurricane right before landfall sometime between late Thursday night into Friday.

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered in several parts of Florida as Tropical Storm Hermine pushes closer to landfall. Between 5 and 10 inches of rain are expected to be dumped from the storm. Storms become hurricanes when sustained winds reach 74 miles per hour. As of 11 p.m. ET, maximum sustained winds were near 60 miles per hour.

"We're meeting tonight to discuss what our options are based on levels of intensity", said Gulf Coast Jam Executive Producer Rendy Lovelady. But, in the meantime, as with any tropical systems, we will continue to keep updating you on the very latest so you and your family can plan accordingly. More than 15 inches of rain and waves of up to 25 feet are possible on the Big Island, according to forecasts. The storm could roughly parallel the Carolina coast on Friday afternoon and into Saturday morning.

Gov. Rick Scott will receive an EOC briefing in Tallahassee at 8:30 this morning.
