Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran has said the government will not allow RSS to set up arsenals in temples under Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) and use temple land for weapons training. Now the latest being that the CPM wants RSS to be shunted out of the temples. "Under the circumstances, steps should be taken to remove the misgivings among the people", he said. Party state president Kummanam Rajasekharan asked the temple affairs minister to reveal "in which temple the RSS is conducting its shakha".

Temples are places of worship and should not be made vaults of weapons, he said while talking to reporters here. "Such anti-social activities will not be allowed", he added. Since the government is flooded with the complaints over the activities of the RSS in certain temples, the government is committed in taking action against this. The government would not permit "antisocial" activities that would destroy the State's secular character and social peace, Mr. Surendran said.

Kerala Public Works Minister G Sudhakaran said recently that lighting lamps and singing religious hymns at government programmes should be avoided.
