'I know there's a lot of smoke but there's no fire'

"She's talking about things the president couldn't get done, why does she think she will have more luck?"

When asked if she was certain that there are no emails or foundation ties to foreign entities that could be revealed and may permanently impact her presidential prospects, Clinton said "I am sure because I have a very strong foundation of understanding of the foundation, not to play on words, that the kind of work the foundation has done ... is work that went right into providing services for people". The Republican nominee, who donated to the Clinton Foundation, has repeatedly charged that his opponent, while secretary of state, provided access to foundation contributors in exchange for donations to the charity at the heart of Bill Clinton's post-presidential legacy. "It is now abundantly clear that the Clintons set up a business to profit from public office".

The call from two leading USA news organizations came as Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and other members of his party have taken to calling for a special prosecutor to investigate what they say is corruption. The Kingdom of Bahrain reportedly gave between $50,000 and $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation.

On Wednesday, Trump called once again for a special prosecutor to investigate foundation donors getting special access to Clinton while she was secretary of state.

But an Associated Press report published on Tuesday found that more than half of the non-government officials who met with Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state gave money, in some cases, substantial sums of money, to the Clinton Foundation.

On Monday, former president Bill Clinton belatedly announced plans to tighten the ethical safeguards for the Clinton Foundation, the family charity, to eliminate "legitimate concerns about potential conflicts of interest".

"Well, first, What Trump has said is ridiculous". It does. But what the Clinton Foundation does with the money it receives isn't the point here. It's a nonprofit foundation. Clinton's campaign says any donor who expected special favors from Clinton in return would have been disappointed. Even Fox News broadcast the speech live, along with the other cable television networks. After leaving her job as US secretary the state in 2013, Hillary Clinton joined the foundation's board, and the organization was renamed the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation. But if they were innocent, then why did she send emails containing classified information to these people?

On Monday, the State Department said it was reviewing almost 15,000 previously undisclosed emails recovered as part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation inquiry, which was closed after investigators recommended against criminal charges. Foreign donors and corporations could no longer contribute, but US citizens, USA foundations, and permanent residents could still give unlimited sums. Mr Trump's video also shows United States senator Bernie Sanders, Ms Clinton's main opponent in the Democratic primary this year, calling that a racist term. The big question is: What happens now?

The foundation has said Hillary Clinton was not involved with the group while serving as the nation's top diplomat.

Clinton said Friday she would take "additional steps" to ensure there wasn't a conflict of interest with the foundation if she is elected president.

Yes, that will create a lot of hardship for a lot of people. "We're going to be testing (transferring responsibility), and that's why the Clinton Foundation is looking for partners. not necessarily the same partner for all of the work".
